Interestingly, I had a similar reaction. I took an abundant amount of photos because the studio charged 5 bucks to take pictures of anything inside. But everything felt very constrained and over programmed. Life was not spontaneous nor natural. Add that to dark rooms with small window and you get the sinister effect. I didn’t get the feeling it was a lively or healthy place.
I was also surprised by this house. Coming from Europe, I would have called a lot of the style shown as “Jugendstil”, so I was trying to discover what is uniquely the style of Wright, who I regarded until now as being a father of modern architecture. Or did he concentrate more on the exterior, then interior? Helena
